How Do You Know If You Passed Your TEAS Test?

You know you passed your TEAS test when your official score report shows a composite score that meets or exceeds your nursing program’s minimum requirement. Unlike pass/fail exams, the TEAS test does not issue a simple “pass” or “fail” result. Instead, it provides percentile ranks and section scores. Each school sets its own benchmark for what constitutes a passing performance on the TEAS test.

Understanding Your TEAS Test Results

Immediately after completing the TEAS test at a testing center, you may receive an unofficial score report. This document displays your scores in all entries – Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English, along with a total academic preparedness score. While this gives a quick indication, only your chosen nursing programs determine if you passed your TEAS test based on their admission criteria.

Most competitive nursing programs require a composite score of 70% or higher to consider you as having passed your TEAS test. Some may accept 60–69% for less selective tracks. Always verify the exact threshold with your target schools, as standards vary widely. A score that passes your TEAS test at one institution may fall short at another.

Your official TEAS test results are also sent directly to the schools you selected during registration. You can access them through your ATI account within 48 hours. Review your detailed report to see which content areas need improvement—especially if you did not pass your TEAS test on the first attempt.

If your score meets or exceeds the program’s cutoff, you have effectively passed your TEAS test for that institution. If not, you may retake the exam after 30 days, though you will need to pay the full fee again.

It is important to note that “passing” the TEAS test is program-dependent, not universal. There is no national passing standard. Therefore, knowing whether you passed your TEAS test requires comparing your score to your specific school’s published requirements.

You passed your TEAS test when your composite score satisfies your nursing program’s admission policy. Always confirm score requirements early, interpret your results in context, and use official reports—not speculation—to determine your status. Success on the TEAS test is not about perfection, but about meeting the academic readiness threshold set by your chosen institution.
